the farm

happy hump day, peeps.

recently, my brother and his fiancĂ© got engaged!  my bro popped the question on his favorite spot on our farm.   the farm holds so many special memories for me and my brother, which is why i think he decided to propose there.  i posted a while back about it here.

props to my mom making this cute sign.  my bro laid it face down and then flipped it over when he was ready to pop the question...ahhhh, cutest engagement ever.

they had their engagement photog session recently around the same spot where they got engaged.
their amazing photographer shared some of the pics here
pretty dang awesome, if i do say so myself

while t and i were home for thanksgiving, i showed him around that same spot since he had never been to that part of the farm.  i took my camera along.

Reading List

Hello!
Thought I would share my what I've been reading/what's on my reading list for early 2013!
Please, please, please share what y'all have been reading lately, as I'm always up for a good book!!!

The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling

Currently in the middle of reading this - and lets just say we are not in Hogwarts anymore!
Definitely an adult novel - It was a little hard for me to get into this at first, but I've enjoyed it so far.  Has anyone read this yet?  What did you think?

The Secret Life of CeeCee Wilkes by Diane Chamberlain

Really enjoyed this book - If it were a true story, it would be the craziest thing ever.  Its a quick and easy read - perfect for a road trip or a peaceful weekend at home spent reading by the fireplace!

Maine by J. Courtney Sullivan
The best part about this book is the setting.  I'm obsessed with Maine, in fact, I'm planning on moving there as soon as possible!  But for now, I'm stuck in South Georgia with the heat and the gnats...YAY!
Anyway, this book is really enjoyable and will make you want to move to Maine with me!

The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver
This is on my list of books to read - its been sitting on my shelf for far too long and I've heard it's really good!

Need Two by Darrell Huckaby
This was in my Christmas stocking, which I love - Santa knows me well.
According to Mr. Huckaby's website here is quick synopsis of the book:

Need Two tells the story of Whit and Andrew, two UGA students who have no money, no car and no tickets—but decide that they can’t live if they aren’t in New Orleans to watch their beloved Georgia Bulldogs play Notre Dame for the National Championship of college football.

I love it already...

The House of the Seven Gables by Nathaniel Hawthorne
A classic I've never read - can't wait to get started on this one!

Tinkers by Paul Harding
A simply great book!

The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin
I think everyone and their brother has already read this book, but I'm going to recommend it here anyway.  This book is really wonderful.   You can tell Gretchen Rubin really pushed herself to become a better and happier person.  She is soooo smart and I really think you will get a lot out of this book, if you haven't already!

Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe by Fannie Flagg
My favorite movie - How could I have never read this book?  Crazy!  I plan to remedy this problem soon!

What Remains by Carole Radziwill
Go. Buy. This. Book.
I may be biased bc Carole is my favorite Housewife, but before all that she wrote this amazing book.
I could not put it down.  And I cried.  So, so, so hard.
She has an amazing story.

Ok, that's all I have for now.
Please, please share what y'all are reading now!

See you later, loves!

xx.

Days go by...

Where in the world have I been for the last 6 months!?!  Not sure if anyone is still hanging in there (even my mom:), but I'm going to catch you up anyway.

Most of these initial pics are from Instagram, which I freaking love!  Michele, my awesome friend from TX, suggested I start using it and now I'm addicted.

We haven't done anything too exciting in the last few months...still loving my Birdie.  I'm afraid I am officially becoming a cat lady, as I got a few cat specific Christmas gifts.  So, so scary.
It's just so hard not to gush over your cat when she is the most adorable thing ever.

I mean, look at that face!
Plus, she has awesome upper body strength as she likes to hang on the door begging to be let in!
See...she truly is awesome...

Went to a few work conferences...
Apparently, I like to stay hydrated or maybe I'm a cup hoarder.  I think it may be the latter.
Cat lady and cup hoarder - where is my TLC reality show?!?

Saw one of my best friends get married...
Her reception was at the Fox Theater in Atlanta.
It was absolute perfection.

AP!  You made the blog!!!

Her bach bash in Asheville was also ah-mazing.

I call this photo...4 girls, 2 days.

Day drinking in Asheville on a food tour with your favs.
Life does not get better than that.

Celebrated Christmas.
Or rather, Christmas fails.
I will have you know this was not my precious Bird.
It was my cheap @#!$^$#^&*!^$ tree stand, which I now hate.  Hate. Hate. Hate.

Don't worry - we recovered.

Drink some, er, lots of champ.

Ate the best pimento cheese you can buy.
Seriously, find this stuff.

Did some decorating.
Can't wait, wait, wait to show y'all some before and after pics.

Read some really good books.
This one is a tear jerker!  And it was about dogs - see there is still room in my heart for more than one animal....
Plan to share more of my reads later this weekend.  Stay tuned.

Did some traveling.
More on that later too.

Seriously, the best thing about traveling/flying is the Sky Mall magazine...
You should not be able to put a price on these gifts.

Well, that is all for now.  I promise to be back soon.  Lots more to discuss.
xx.

Ps.  If you haven't already, check out Suri's Burn Book on Tumblr.
Hysterical!!!!
Its my new fav blog.  Hands down.
Thanks MKY for the suggestion.   I heart you - and the donkeys send their love.  Miss.
