good times...

Hey friends!  Sorry for the lack of posting around here, but my parents have kidnapped my "good" camera, so I haven't taken too many pics of late...And, we are, as usual, busy.  I must say it is the good kind of busy though.  I haven't posted much about our move to Americus, but I must say we really have loved it here.  Its nice to be closer to family and friends (even my parent's are 3 hours closer now!).  We have also really making over our new house - we have made some big changes so far.  I know I keep promising before and after pics but I'm assure you they are coming soon!!!  Very excited to share!

Anyway, since I have taken many "good" pics, I thought I'd share what is on my cellphone as of late...
Lots of random shots but bare with me :)

I took this pic a few weeks ago while I was at a conference at Lake Lanier - not too shabby of a view :)

I spotted this at the mall while there...
Hysterical!
I def need this for Halloween!

********************
One night after work, T and I randomly popped a bottle of champagne
Sometimes you just need a little cocktail!

********************

Everyday I come home to this...
you see that little black speck on the roof?  Well, that's kitty, Birdie!
She loves to climb on the roof and hangout all day!  It's like her own personal playground!
She is a mess!

********************

We bought this sofa table the other day for our main living room
It was on sale - yay!  Can't wait to pick it up next week!

********************

Birdie and I hanging out one Sunday afternoon
Gah, she is cute :)

********************

I took this picture while I was at my parent's house a few weeks back
My mom gave me this before I left for college and I admit I didn't always obey every single one, but I must say this advice served me well then and now!

********************
Spring is officially here!
We have ferns!
Now, lets see how long I can keep them alive!

********************

And Easter is almost here, too - I am headed to Hilton Head for Easter!  Hallelujah!
See my new bunny - it came from Cracker Barrel.  Ha.  Who knew they had such fab decor ;)
Excuse our living room - we are still a work in progress!

********************

Speaking of living rooms, I kind of love this coffee table.
What do yall think?  Too modern looking?

********************

Let's talk about books!

Can I just tell y'all how fabulous the Hunger Games series is?!?
Unreal!
I did not want them to end.  I can't wait for the movie.  I can't believe I'm saying this but they are right up there with Harry Potter!

One of the lawyers in my office gave me this book to read - he worked with the prosecuting attorney in the case.  It's a true story about a woman in Georgia who was found guilty of poisoning four members of her family with arsenic.  So disturbing!  I can't say I recommend it, if you want to sleep at night.  However, it is fascinating in a scary sort of way.

I'm now reading this:

So does anyone have any "happy" reads?
I need some uplifting stories after these two!

********************

I did a little faux flower arranging this weekend...
I really am not a fan of fakies, but I may keep these around for awhile...
What do you think?

********************

Our new white living room
Such a big change from deep red!  Makes it feel much bigger!
Several more things to do in here before its complete, but this was a huge step!

 ********************
This weekend I did a little bargain shopping
My new pink coat!

Pretty good deal if you consider it was 188.00!
I hope we have a winter next year so I can wear it!

and a new dress

Love the little pop of pink of the cuffs!

and loved the price tag!
Yay for good deals!

Well, thats all for now!
Hope everyone is enjoying this warm weather!

Much Love.

Construction Zone

Hi Chickens!
Hope everyone is having a good week and a great Valentine's Day!
We have been busy here lately doing some renovations around the house...
This means some new lights, some new furniture pieces, and LOTS of paint

I'll post real before and after pictures, but here are some cell phone pics of the work in progress

New paint color in the guest bathroom
Used to be lime green, now it's Benjamin Moore Brittany Blue

This before picture is really dark but you get the idea :)

And the painting in progress
I love this blue!

The kitchen which was DARK red....

....a little preview of the before

We decided to paint the kitchen Benjamin Moore "White Linen"
4 coats to be exact

Testing out paint colors in the kitchen - we chose the one on the far right.
Painting the trim made the color pop even more

And here is just a little preview of the after
What a difference paint colors make!

*notice our new hutch!!!  yay!!!

We also had horrible fluorescent lighting in the kitchen, which screamed 1970's garage (you can see it in the picture above)
We also had a fan in the kitchen, which we never used and it made the ceilings feel really low.
We took the fan out and installed recessed lighting, which has made such an amazing difference!
Here is the work in progress

T was out of town the week this was done.  How do men manage to do that?!?

We also bought a new piece for the dining room
Although, I really loved this piece - it was way out of my budget at $3,000

So, I got this, which was much more budget friendly
I think it's perfect for our dining room, which is getting a little makeover as well

All of these changes are making this house feel so much more like our "home" - which is a wonderful feeling.  We have lots more to share so I'll keep you posted as more progress is made!

Much love!

PS.

Can you believe our flowers are blooming in February?
You can see our Japanese magnolia through the window!  It's in full bloom!
Crazy!

My "potting bench"

Hello Friends!

So this is our brand new storage shed!
Isn't it cute - In Savannah, we had a tacky plastic shed that we kept our lawn mower in...we are moving up in the world, folks!

I've also decided that when T gets in trouble this is where he can live.
I digress...

So when we moved in the side part looked like this.  The previous owners left us lots of firewood, some other random wood, concrete blocks, and peat moss...

Very thoughtful

and they left us lots of discarded clay pots!

I saw these and probably was more excited about these little treasures than actually buying the house...
I know, strange, but I love a good "find" especially when its in my own backyard!

I pulled pots out of the ground (they must have been there awhile) being very careful while doing so.  I not a big fan of snakes or spiders and you just know they think a turned over clay pot is ideal housing!

I collected them all and then gave them a quick rinse

and there you have it
my very own
potting bench
of sorts!

And I've been busy potting
Luckily, I have a hard time killing these!

My plants so far!

Alright, hope everyone had a great Monday!
I'm off to torture my husband
aka
watch Real Housewives of Bev Hills!!!

xx.

Ultimate Bad Blogger

So I have been totally MIA
but I do have a good excuse
We finally moved into our new house!!!

Isn't she beautiful?!?
We love it here!

My favorite part is the yard
oh and my sweet walk-in closet
(that I have all to myself - Woohooo!!!)

(I promise to show pics soon, lots of before and afters)

We  I have been super busy
unpacking
but I will say, T has been busy in the yard!

I walked out the other day and he was literally in a tree
pruning

Good grief

but as you can see, he was happy as a lark!
It made my heart happy!

We have been loving fall, too
and decorating our new place for Halloween
The other night we got Boo'd

Do y'all play this game in your neighborhood?
If not, you should!  It's such a fun way for adults to get involved in Halloween!
Somebody got us so good
People banging on my door at 11 pm tend to freak me out, but they did...

leave us...
 some sweet treats!

Cute, right?!?

Oh, I love Halloween!

Tonight we had tons of trick-or-treaters!
A lady at the courthouse told me today - "are you ready for tonight?  you're going to have lots of trick-or-treaters in your neighborhood!"

I thought, yeah I've got plenty

Um not so much, I should have doubled that!
I was out of candy within the first hour or so!

I think the kids were attracted to my gigantic pumpkin?
Yeah, I live in the burbs and I have a giant blow up pumpkin
all I need now is a minivan and 3 kids

I sort of love it though!

Hope you are all doing great!  I'm so ready to catch up on all I've missed this past month!
xx.
Happppy Halloweeeeen!!!
