Blog Friends

About a month ago, I had the pleasure of meeting one of my favorite bloggers, Michele from Imperfectly Wonderful World!  She is a beautiful wife and mother from Texas.  When T and I were headed to Austin for a wedding, I emailed Michele to ask her if she knew any fun places to eat while we were there.  She sent me back such a detailed list - I was floored!  It was so nice of her to go out of her way for a total stranger!
(Our trip was awesome - if you get the chance to go to Austin, GO!  You can read about our trip HERE)

Since Michele was one of my first blog friends, I was so excited about the opportunity to meet her in person!

Michele sent me an email letting me know her family would be in Georgia during their vacation.  It was perfect timing, since I was home visiting my parents.

We decided to meet up for lunch in Athens, GA.  We went to one of my favorite restaurants - The Last Resort.
It is delicious and a fun atmosphere - During college (when I still had my parents' credit card, I wore this place out...those were the days...)

It is strange to have never met someone, and yet feel like they are one of your best friends!  Isn't blog world great?  Michele and I really hit it off, and it was so fun to meet her awesome husband, in-laws, and sweet, sweet children.  Lunch was so good and the conversation was even better.  After lunch, we decided to walk around Athens to see the sights.  Of course, Athens is one of my favorite places, so I was excited to show Michele and her family around!  I showed them where I went to class, the SLC/library, the bookstore and the stadium!

Don't we look like we're ready for a UGA game?!?  All we need is a red pom pom...

We had such a wonderful time, and I left that day wishing Michele lived closer!  Blogland is sometimes a hard place to navigate - Sometimes I feel like I share too much, then too little.  And sometimes you wonder ... should I keep doing this?  I think the answer lies in meeting people like Michele.  I am so thankful for some of the friendships I've formed and all the lovely ladies I've "met" through this blog.  There are so many fun, thoughtful, and talented women out in blogland - and I'm happy to "know" so many of them!

xx.

Texas Lovin'

Our trip this weekend was sooo much fun!
what was not fun was coming home and developing a fever and whooping cough.
darn, airplane air!!!

So, in my medicine induced haze/boredom, I thought I'd put up our pictures from the weekend.

We went for a lovely wedding weekend in...
AUSTIN, TEXAS!

I looooove Austin!
I'm very sad to say I'll be losing one of my best friends to this great city...
but, on the bright side, at least I have a cool place to visit from now on!

We left Savannah Thursday...
The one and only Hal Holbrook was on our flight
in first class, of course
Remember him from
Designing Women? The Firm? Fletch Lives?
He is apparently in the new film Water For Elephants, playing Old Jacob!
He was in Savannah shooting a new film

We connected in Atlanta and had a 2 hour wait till our next flight.
Someone wouldn't get of his blackberry and enjoy the view!

We arrived into town late, late
The next morning we decided to partake in the very economical hotel breakfast
25 dollars for eggs and bacon!
What a rip...
Then again, how often do you get breakfast in bed?
Say, never?!?

After our hearty, but bank breaking breakfast it was time to explore Austin!
Unfortunately, I was left all by my lonesome because T was off doing his groomsmen duties...

It is never a good idea to leave your wife alone in a city where they sell
fancy boots
on every corner...

I mean, just look at the selection!
And those are just the size 7's!!!

I really wanted these, but after my 25 dollar scrambled eggs, I decided to conserve...

My only purchase were these two clutches
It was lurve at first sight...

I love nearly everything about Austin
Its clean, it has neat signs...

and nice grafitti

and you can adopt a cute pup right off the sidewalk!

and it has great SHOPPING!

look at all this stuff!
you could spend all day in this shop
and i almost did...

I really loved these knobs
they almost came home with me

Lots of Frida gear...
and Day of the Dead stuff
not really in my decor...
but very cool to look at!
Loved these copper switch plates

Now to the antiques shops...
I looooved this tray...

and this mirror!
I still regret not purchasing this!

Need a armadillo belt buckle?

May a longhorns skull
I'm actually glad T didn't see this, he may have approved this purchase!

how about another belt buckle???
Don't mess with ...

Now, lets talk about the food!

Anywhere, that you can buy cupcakes out of an airstream trailer that has a giant cupcake twirling on its roof is a place I need to live/visit regularly...

Not to mention a place that has
SALSA BARS!
Yes, salsa bars
I'm in heaven

And, don't even get me started on the variety of margaritas!
There are margaritas everywhere!
Good gracious, they were good!
Meet the "Don"
Probably named after some poor patron that had too many...
Or the Godfather?
Who knows, who cares, it was good!

By this time T had finally finished his manly man duties and returned to me...
We walked around a bit more and stopped to hydrate before venturing back to the hotel
After two "Dons" I needed some hydration
T asked the waitress what was good and after rattling off a couple of things...
he opted with the...
"just surprise me"
and. she. did.
Have you ever seen such a concoction?
Hysterical!
T looked like a college freshman drinking this
and I couldn't stop laughing...

Austin is an awesome city
the shopping is wonderful, the people are friendly, the music is good, the drinks are strong
and I can't wait to go back!!!
