This should be the next book you read...

Unbroken
by Laura Hillenbrand

Such, such
an amazing and true story

It had been sitting on T's nightstand for so long, I finally picked it up and read it.
The first section was sort of slow, but I couldn't put it down after that.
Not only is it an amazing story, its so informative and well written.
Seriously, pick up a copy tomorrow!  You will not regret it!

Ps.
Is it time for one of these yet?
Can't believe its only Tuesday!?!

or I'd even settle for this...

Must Read

My mother-in-law gave me the book, The Glass Castle, before we left on our trip to TN this weekend
I had no idea what it was about, but I needed something to do since I was going to be stuck in the car for 7 hours

It's a GREAT book!
It's a memoir written by Jeannette Walls - you will laugh, cry and cringe as she talks about her life growing up with her parents and four siblings - it is fascinating!
If your haven't read it yet, pick up a copy at the library or your local bookstore!

Happy Reading!
xx.
PS.  Lots more about our trip to Center Hill Lake in TN later
PSS. I have officially become a river rat

Summer Reading List

It is soooo hot here.  I'm reeeally looking forward to getting our power bill.  That should be fun.  Anyway, wanted to share with y'all my summer reads.  Please share what you've been reading!

1.  The Paris Wife by Paula McLain - Terribly depressing.  Has anyone read this?  What did you think?

2.  The Help by Kathryn Stockett - Can't wait to start this one!

3.  Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte - Am I the only person who hasn't read this?  I never read it in school, but I feel like it is a classic, so I should.

4.  The Valley of the Light by Terry Kay - I think Terry Kay can do no wrong!  Love everything he writes!

5.  The Lake of Dreams by Kim Edwards - This was on the "new" shelf at the library.

6.  Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling - I've read the first two.  I love HP, but I've decided not to check out any more HP books from the library.  Lets just say they were, um, "well used" - Live and Learn!

These are also a few on my list:

Heaven is for Real by Todd Burpo
Love, Lucy by Lucille Ball
Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell

In other news, I love this kitchen - Can't remember where I found this image (maybe off Tessa's blog @ Nine & Sixteen - she has the best inspiration photos!), but kudos to whoever designed this masterpiece.  Simply Perfection!

And in other, other news, you know you live in a small town when you stop at a railroad crossing and this is in front of you....

Happy Tuesday!
Stay cool!

Rainy Day Reading

This weekend I went home to visit my parents,
while T went to a Bachelor Partay.
We can't wait for our friend's wedding in March.
It's in Austin, Texas!
I'm so excited because I've never been to TEXAS!
OH, can't wait!  Any advice on things to do/see in Austin?

Anyway, I was hoping to get some great photos of our farm and my hometown,
but
IT RAINED!
The entire weekend!

So, it was a l a z y weekend!
The first morning I walked downstairs to this...

Talk about Noah's Ark!
Maddy, Socks, and Checkers were not ready for the day to begin!

Mom and I braved the rained and went shopping.
I almost bought one of these...
a blue and white garden stool for our guest bedroom, but I decided against it.

Once we got back Mom set to work on her newest hobby - sugar cookies.
She made these for a wedding shower.
I was the taste-tester!
So good!

I was obviously no help in the kitchen, so after a nap...

I started to read my new books from the library.

Time to start reading already?!?
"5 more minutes..."

These are the books I'm currently reading...
all from the library!

Since I loved my last Terry Kay book so much, I picked up another one of his books.
Shadow Song
Finished this one last week - another great book by my newest favorite author!
Easy Read and such a sweet story!
5 Stars!

Haven't read these two...
yet..

I also picked up another book by Kristin Hannah.
I really enjoyed Firefly Lane.

I finished Winter Garden this weekend
and I wasn't disappointed!
It's a sweet story and it's an easy read as well!
Also, it has a great twist...at the end!!!  Love a twist!
4 Stars!

I had some company while reading...

Time to turn the page!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!
Hopefully, the SUN will come out this weekend
because we're going hunting...
thats right...
More about that later. ;)
Much love!

Resolution Success - in more ways than one!

So, if any of you read my resolutions for 2011, you know that I listed:

-go to the library and stop buying so many books

I did this because 1) we don't have the space and 2) its expensive.  Well...I did it.  I went to the library.  I hadn't been in so long I had to get a new library card.  Yes, terrible.  Anyway, I picked out two books (start small):  Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah and To Dance With the White Dog by Terry Kay.

I read To Dance With the White Dog in 2 nights - GO GET THIS BOOK (at the library)!
GO GET THIS BOOK!  I had to reiterate because I loved it that much!  I really only picked it up because T is always talking about how they filmed the movie in his hometown, Americus, GA.  I saw it on the shelf as I was walking out and decided I should get it.  I had no idea that the author, Terry Kay, is from Georgia and that a good portion of the book takes place in MY hometown.

THIS BOOK IS AMAZING!  It has the most touching story about an older couple and their love.  I don't want to give away too much, but seriously READ IT!  It's an easy read and I promise that most of you will be finished in a night.  I love it so much that I'm buying (I know, already breaking my own rules) a copy for me and one for my grandmother.  I called her Saturday to tell her that I was mailing her this book because it reminded me so much of the love between her and my grandfather.

I haven't started Firefly Lane yet, but I've heard good things about it as well.  If you get time, go to your local library and take your sweet kiddos, you won't regret it!   You never know what GREAT books you will find!
