NYE in Colorado

Happy Wednesday!
Is anyone else ready for the weekend?!?
Yes, please

I digress, anyway, so I wanted to share with y'all a little recap of our annual ski trip with T's family.
This year we headed to Breckenridge, CO - which was beautiful.
It's always so exciting to see snow, especially when you live in South Georgia!

That's me below
If you think I know what I'm doing, you're wrong.
Again, I'm from Georgia.  And I only started skiing 3 years ago.  So, you can imagine.
Now, I can make it down the "Blues" without killing myself, but that's about it...

Now lets cut to my husband
He is from Georgia, too.
Unlike me, however, the man can really ski.
Black, Double Blacks - I mean, anything.  I'm sure if he could do that helicopter skiing he would be all about that as well.  I really hate that he ended up with such an non-athletic wife, but oh well!  He gets to babysit me on the blues for the rest of his life!  Gotta love marriage :)

See he even seems happy about it :)

The scenery on the slopes was gorgeous.
There wasn't alot of snow this year, but the weather was perfect.

Yeah, that's me....
 I told you I don't know what I'm doing...

My favorite part of the trip was seeing these guys!
Bride and Groom

Who knew you could ski in a wedding gown?
These brave (and cold) souls were married New Year's Day on top of the mountain.
We somehow ended up riding the ski lift behind them - their photographer was on the lift in front of them taking pictures the whole way up, so I'm pretty sure we'll be in their wedding album.

Very neat

My favorite part of skiing is eating lunch on top of the mountain.
Although, lunch usually costs $50 for a hamburger, cookie, and a coke - it is sort of worth it
It's so fun to relax and take in the scenery after a long hard morning of snowplowing skiing

T before lunch
How beautiful is that background?!?

My second favorite part of the day is having a cocktail around the fire every afternoon
1=3 in high altitude - a good rule to remember :)
Here we are kicking back with our ski boots on (those things are torture btw)

We really had a great time, but after 6 days of skiing, it was time to head home.
One little thing stood between me and Georgia...
the dreaded
airport

Ugh.

My little niece decided to hitch a ride on her Dad's luggage.
Genius.

This was the line at airport to check your bag
Looks fun, huh?
Well, after standing in line for 2 hours we made it to our gate 5 minutes late...
Picture that scene from Home Alone where they're all running through the airport - yeah, that was us

I quickly decided that if we missed our flight
I was going here:

I was excited we made and ready to see my little kitten, Birdie
We left Birdie with my parents while we were gone on our trip, so when we landed I texted my brother and asked,

"how is birdie?"
"does she miss me?"

and in response he sent me this pic

Obviously, she is just homesick as can be...can't you tell!
Nevertheless, I was happy to reunite with my child!

That's all for now!
Happy Wednesday, Loves!

Christmas Recap: Part 1

Christmas has come and gone - and I can't believe it.
Where did 2011 go?
I guess moving to a new town, selling a house, buying a house, starting new jobs, and adopting a kitten will make a year fly by...

We had a wonderful Christmas - it was full of time with our family and friends.
And really, who can ask for more?

T and decided not to exchange gifts, since we are trying to furnish our house.

These few of our Christmas presents to each other...

A new kitchen table
We had this made by a local guy here in Americus - he is really talented!  He used old heart pine boards to make it, and we love the way it turned out.

and this hutch
which is currently being refinished, but should be in place soon

Sidenote:
Our kitchen is red!
Can you tell in the top picture of the table?
Red, Red!
I like red, but our kitchen is pretty small, so we are thinking of painting it a lighter color to make it feel a little bigger.  This kitchen is amazing (not sure of the source - I'd like to give credit, but can't remember where this is from!) but I would love our kitchen to look *something* like this.

Here's hoping!

Anyway, we have really loved our first Christmas in Americus, and our first Christmas with little Birdie.
She is so fun, and I love her to death.  Here she is warming up by the fire...tough life, huh?

Before we headed out of town to my parents - we delivered a few small gifts to our neighbors...

mailed out a few more Christmas cards
We got so many fun cards this year!
and we even got one from Michelle, one of my favorite blog friends :)

wrapped a few gifts...
Is it weird that I loved wrapping presents?!?  It's so relaxing to me, especially if I'm watching a good Christmas movie.

and we were ready to go!

Sadly, I took zero pictures Christmas day!  Dad was the designated picture taker - a job he has been doing for years!

I did snap a few the night before...

My parent's dog
He loves that toy - can you tell?

Christmas eve we munched on a few pecans my Mom picked up at my grandparent's house
Yum.

It was really a lovely, relaxed Christmas at the farm

We headed to Colorado a couple of days later to go skiing with T's family - more about that later!

Hope you and your family had a great Christmas - I've really enjoyed catching up with everyone!
We are finally getting back in the groove of things since the holidays!
And we've been taking it easy...
Last night at 9 p.m.
We are wild, if you can't tell!

Much love all!
Happy Belated Christmas to you all :)

Christmas is here!

Hi Friends!
Can you believe Thanksgiving is over?
Where in the world did this year go?

We have been busy at our house.  T has been sitting in a deer stand every morning and night, while I've been playing with my new child, Birdie.  I walked to the garage the other day and almost broke my neck on T's hunting boots which he left at the door.  I took a picture because it sort of sums up his life right now...eat, sleep, work, hunt...

He shot a "big" one Saturday morning, so he has the fever even worse now.  I guess Birdie and I will spend many more mornings cuddling by ourselves.

As you can see, she has a really tough life

And I don't know how this position is comfortable, but she likes to wedge herself beside me in the chair
It's so cute - I just eat it up

I've also been busy decorating - well rather, deciding on things to decorate with
Its a work in process - T's uncle walked in this weekend and said, "man, I love yalls furniture!"
Ha.  I hope to have an after picture very soon!
Who knew a sofa was so hard to pick out!

In other news, we are gearing up for Christmas.  The weather has been pretty cold lately, so its been great have a fire every night or so.

Our christmas tree purchase was once again an adventure.  We headed to Lowes to pick our tree (bc T had a coupon - Dad are you proud?!?).  Our ceilings are 10 ft high in the living room, so I suggested we go with about a 7 ft. tree...Clark Griswald aka T was having none of that!  We ended up with a very humble 9 ft tree that would have made ole Clark proud.

Too bad it was a tad big...

Oh well.  After cutting about 2 ft off the top, we were good to go

Birdie wasn't even phased...

And this is T's new obsession
a dust buster

Ugh.  I know I should appreciate that my husband is a neat freak, but if I hear this thing turn on one more time, I may freak out.  He decided after hauling in the tree, he should suck up all the pine needles...

After what felt like an hour of him dust busting, we were finally ready to put on some ornaments...
Men...

It turned out great, I think
I'm so glad to have a real tree this year - our fake one from last year just wasn't cutting it

It was pretty cozy once we got everything set up

Had to break out the flash on this one

Love the smell of fresh garland

I've been looking for a manger scene for 2 years now
My mom has a beautiful one from Sam's, but I can't find anything like it
I found this little one at Belk's and thought it was pretty

We haven't done much in the kitchen or the dining room because our house is truly a work in process at the moment, but I did throw a few things together.

See what I mean about bare?!
Oh well, decorating is my favorite part, so I'm taking my time

The mantle in the formal living room, and you can see a small part of our new rug from Pottery Barn!
I love it!

And nothing is better than Micheal Buble on the Bose
Ahh...swoon...he is amazing!

We haven't sent out Christmas cards yet, but I've got my cards ordered, my stamps bought and addresses organized, so I'm ready to go when they arrive!

One of my sweet, sweet high school friends came out to my parent's farm over Thanksgiving to take our Christmas card picture.  I thought they turned out great.  The day was really overcast, but she did a wonderful job making them feel warm and sunny.

This is one of the whole family

This is the one that will be on T and I's Christmas card

Hope everyone is having fun gearing up for Christmas
It is such a fun time of year and we have so much to be thankful for.

Much Love!
