good times...

Hey friends!  Sorry for the lack of posting around here, but my parents have kidnapped my "good" camera, so I haven't taken too many pics of late...And, we are, as usual, busy.  I must say it is the good kind of busy though.  I haven't posted much about our move to Americus, but I must say we really have loved it here.  Its nice to be closer to family and friends (even my parent's are 3 hours closer now!).  We have also really making over our new house - we have made some big changes so far.  I know I keep promising before and after pics but I'm assure you they are coming soon!!!  Very excited to share!

Anyway, since I have taken many "good" pics, I thought I'd share what is on my cellphone as of late...
Lots of random shots but bare with me :)

I took this pic a few weeks ago while I was at a conference at Lake Lanier - not too shabby of a view :)

I spotted this at the mall while there...
Hysterical!
I def need this for Halloween!

********************
One night after work, T and I randomly popped a bottle of champagne
Sometimes you just need a little cocktail!

********************

Everyday I come home to this...
you see that little black speck on the roof?  Well, that's kitty, Birdie!
She loves to climb on the roof and hangout all day!  It's like her own personal playground!
She is a mess!

********************

We bought this sofa table the other day for our main living room
It was on sale - yay!  Can't wait to pick it up next week!

********************

Birdie and I hanging out one Sunday afternoon
Gah, she is cute :)

********************

I took this picture while I was at my parent's house a few weeks back
My mom gave me this before I left for college and I admit I didn't always obey every single one, but I must say this advice served me well then and now!

********************
Spring is officially here!
We have ferns!
Now, lets see how long I can keep them alive!

********************

And Easter is almost here, too - I am headed to Hilton Head for Easter!  Hallelujah!
See my new bunny - it came from Cracker Barrel.  Ha.  Who knew they had such fab decor ;)
Excuse our living room - we are still a work in progress!

********************

Speaking of living rooms, I kind of love this coffee table.
What do yall think?  Too modern looking?

********************

Let's talk about books!

Can I just tell y'all how fabulous the Hunger Games series is?!?
Unreal!
I did not want them to end.  I can't wait for the movie.  I can't believe I'm saying this but they are right up there with Harry Potter!

One of the lawyers in my office gave me this book to read - he worked with the prosecuting attorney in the case.  It's a true story about a woman in Georgia who was found guilty of poisoning four members of her family with arsenic.  So disturbing!  I can't say I recommend it, if you want to sleep at night.  However, it is fascinating in a scary sort of way.

I'm now reading this:

So does anyone have any "happy" reads?
I need some uplifting stories after these two!

********************

I did a little faux flower arranging this weekend...
I really am not a fan of fakies, but I may keep these around for awhile...
What do you think?

********************

Our new white living room
Such a big change from deep red!  Makes it feel much bigger!
Several more things to do in here before its complete, but this was a huge step!

 ********************
This weekend I did a little bargain shopping
My new pink coat!

Pretty good deal if you consider it was 188.00!
I hope we have a winter next year so I can wear it!

and a new dress

Love the little pop of pink of the cuffs!

and loved the price tag!
Yay for good deals!

Well, thats all for now!
Hope everyone is enjoying this warm weather!

Much Love.

hello! Thanks for all the pictures! :) Fun look into your house. Love the fireplace.

My favorite of your mom's rules was "don't go to chatrooms" LOL! Love it! This must have been during AOL days...

Also: Hunger Games!! YES! Can't wait for the movies!

I love that dress - so cute! And I definitely don't think that table is too modern. In fact, my mom just gave us a similar table (brass/gold with a glass top) and it's oval shape. She's had it since I was 5! Classic paring if you ask me. Glad you are back - can't wait to see pictures of the before/afters. :)

Your mom's rules ... I think those are absolutely fantastic.

Great finds -- the sofa table, the coffee table (which I don't think is too modern at all, and I like the juxtaposition of it with your other furniture), and oh my gosh that DRESS!

Hi! so good to hear from ya! I love the coffee table! Anything with gold (from the looks of it) accents is great in my book! It looks antique modern :)
HH for Easter - amazing! :)

Love all the little updates! Happy to see that things are good! First I adore that table, second I LOVE a good bargain nicely done on the coat and dress and third I am obsessed with Hunger Games! I have today off, its rainy outside and I plan on curling up and finishing it and then immediately purchase the next one on my kindle! I kind of put Unbreakable on hold because I wanted to read Hunger games before the movie came out! But seriously I have really liked your book recommendations! So thank you! xo (ps I did cut my hair, and thanks for the comment on the pink jeans ;)

hi katie ~ nice to see you pop in! loved seeing the updates and addtions to your new home. the coffee table is great, but you'll move it the day you have babies that are walking. till them it is fab! :) and once they are 4 or 5 it would resurface again. just saying.

ok, but really, the hunger games!!! i could not put those books down. can't wait for the movie. i think the casting was BRILLIANT!! i didn't love mockingjay as much as the first two, but i still couldn't stop reading b/c i had to know how it ended. i had enough with the exploding pods and mutated creatures and then of course Prim not sure i saw that coming and wasn't so happy about it either!

I think that coffee table is gorgeous! Not too modern at all.
And, I finally started reading Hunger Games last night, I'm so behind the times...
And wow! That dress is GORGEOUS! The price tag makes it even better :)

I love that coffee table and don't think it's too modern..it might be a really cool contrast to your more traditional/rustic pieces! Love the bunny and new dress!

I enjoyed your post! That framed note of rules from your mom is great! Adorable dress and cat of course. Glad you are doing well! I'm reading Unbroken right now. It is so hard to put down. Not light though. I read a really old book called Castle Ugly and enjoyed it!
