Life's a Beach

Whew!
Summer has been crazy so far - Is it me or has this year gone by super fast?
T, myself, and some good friends of ours headed to Destin, where T's parents have a condo (that is beyond cute and decorated to perfection)!  The beach was incredibly crowded for Memorial Day, but it's the beach, so who can complain?  Sun, sand, friends, a cold beverage or two...so perfect!

Unfortunately, I didn't get any good beach pictures.  I took my camera down to the beach, and almost had a mini heart attack.  My camera aka baby had been out of its bag for all of two seconds and was covered with sand particles!  No thanks.

The beach house had a great selection of old magazines to read - Lots of "vintage" Coastal Livings and my favorite, Southern Accents.  Can we please start a petition to bring this magazine back?

You would have thought we had three children and nine adults with all the stuff we toted down to the beach each day.  Umbrellas, chairs, magazines, coolers, food, hats, towels

and lots of this stuff

I know 100 SPF sounds a bit extreme, and applying it is sort of like slathering on a coat of Elmer's glue, but the freckle population on my face is rapidly growing - ugh.  I still manage to get sun even with this stuff - and yes, I repeat and reapply!

I checked out Sara Gruen's, Ape House, before we left.  It is a great book!  Of course, it doesn't have the love story of Water for Elephants and its not as good (WFE was hard to beat though), but I felt like I learned more from this book.  Sara seems to take a lot of her writing from true historical events and things that happen to her.  I was still very impressed.
Check it out!

We headed to Seaside for dinner one night - I love Seaside.  It's so cute.  The houses and the architecture are simply to die for!  If you have kids, it's a great place to visit!

My only picture of the night.  How great is the courtyard - I can't get enough of the lights and the adirondack chairs!  Classic.

We had so much fun - and, as always, we were very sad to leave, but there is always...
next time

On another note, I'm dying to read The Help!  I'm also excited to see the movie!  I can't decide whether I should read the book first or see the movie - I'm usually disappointed in the movies, so I'm thinking if I see it first maybe I'll enjoy it more!

And in other news, I LOVE Pintrest!  Thank you to Tessa @ Nine & Sixteen for inviting me!  The only things I've pinned are Halloween images.  I think I'm the only nut, who is planning a Halloween party in June.  I love Halloween/Fall! I'm going to have to implement some of these ideas...

I especially like this one...

Now to come up with a costume!
I know, I'm weird, forgive me...

Hope everyone's summer has started off wonderfully!
xx.

Read The Help NOW!!!! I must have read the back cover at least 20 times before I finally bought the book and really all I should have done was open up to the first page because I was done for after that! I have about 2 chapters left and I keep putting it off because I am too sad for the book to be over!! I've seen the trailers for the movie and I can already tell they have changed things so my suggestion is READ THE BOOK NOW! You will not be disappointed! Looks like a perfect holiday weekend thanks for sharing! xo

You should definitely read The Help before you see the movie!! It is SUCH a great book! I couldn't put it down. I agree with "Miss V" - the previews look like they changed and few things, but I'm sure it will still be great. Glad yall had a fun little vacay! :)

I hadn't heard about The Help until last week and I promptly popped it into my Amazon basket, I'm really looking forward to reading it.
And how gorgeous is that courtyard! Perfect place for a warm evening cocktail :-)

Hey girl, we were on our honeymoon last week and I downloaded The Help on our Kindle. I am OBSESSED. I always like reading the books first, and I agree with you -- sometimes the movies slightly disappoint. I say go for the book first, that way you can imagine how the characters look in your own mind before seeing an actor play them!

The Help is wonderful, there is no way the movie will be as amazing. Please read the book first!

Fab post! That place looks beautiful. Love the adirondack chairs. Loved that you pinned Halloween pics, that's hilarious. We had a HUGE Halloween party last year in our backyard. It was SO MUCH FUN! I think you should read the book first, I haven't read it yet either, it's on my list.

1. Love your mint green pants. You look so pretty!

2. That little blue chalkboard crab is darling - especially for a beach condo.

3. I just saw a "behind the scenes look" today at the movie theater for The Help, it's going to be SUCH a good movie!

I just had to commet on the Halloween photos. I'm right there with ya. I love fall and Halloween, too. It's sort of crazy but I like it almost as much as Christmas. Will's birthday is at the beginning of November so when he's older I plan to have a hayride/costume party for his birthday each year. I'm going to have to bookmark these images. I love the witch legs sticking out of the planter!
