Strangers + Summer Reading List

Strangers...
That is what my little blog and I have become
And I suppose it's because
we have been busy
So busy that we've been out of town the last 5 weekends.  Yes.  5.
I thought summers were supposed to be time to slow down?!?

The good news is that this weekend....
we are home.
:)

So, I'm hoping to catch up with all of you in blogland.  I've missed your posts and reading about your lives!  I hope I haven't missed too much!

For now, I will leave y'all with my summer reading list - please share yours!

Also, I found this link on pinterest and it has some great books, plus a few I've never heard of, sooo
you may be able to find some you'd like to read via this link as well!

So far, here is my list:

Bringing Up Bebe: One American Mother Discovers the Wisdom of French Parenting

No, I'm not having a bebe, but I am obsessed with all things French and I do hope to have a bebe at some point and when I do, I want them to be well-behaved and chill, so after learning about this book via Tessa, I had to pick it up.  I read the first 2 chapters last night - I'm hooked.
Has anyone read this yet?  Thoughts?

Murder on Astor Place

This book was mentioned on the link I included above.  The library only had one of Ms. Thompson's book so I read that one first.  It was pretty good, so I broke down and bought this one from amazon.  It's still on my nightstand.

This is the one I managed to snag from the library!  Pretty good.

Murder on Marble Row

Divergent

Fun book.  Very Hunger Games-esque, which of course I loved.  This is a great poolside or beachside read.

Insurgent

The second in the series.  Had to break down and buy this one, too.

Saving CeeCee Honeycutt

A light read that is based in my old town, Savannah.
Sort of reminded me of The Help.  I really enjoyed this one.

Speaking of Savannah, if you haven't gotten a good cookbook lately you must

must

get this one.

Back in the Day Bakery is a from scratch local bakery located in Savannah.  When I lived there I probably ate at this place at least once a week!  These people are true talents and they obviously love what they do.  They make the best cupcakes you've ever put in your mouth.  Total worth the 20 or so bucks to find out how they make those scrumptious delicacies!

Well, that is all for now.
Please share with me what y'all are reading!

Can't wait to catch up with everyone this weekend!

xx.

SO GLAD TO HEAR FROM YOU!!! You've been missed!!!

Ive read so many books this summer...I whiz right thru them and can hardly remember them in a week. BUT, I read two that are awesome...the first is Moloka'i and the second is Honolulu. Both by Alan Brennert. Historical fiction, absolutely loved them!! You are the second person to mention the Cee Cee Hunnicut book...having lived in Savannah for many years, I must read it!

So good to hear from you, hope you are well...fill us all in!! xoxo

Hi and welcome back!!!

I just started a book called King of Lies. It's based in the South and a murder mystery - pretty good so far.

Hi!
Saving CeeCee Honeycutt has been on my list for awhile, I can't wait to hear what you think.
And now I've got other books to add to my goodreads :)

I bookmarked that site - thanks for the intro!

I'm slowing wading through the last of the Hunger Games trilogy -- the 2nd two just haven't captured me like the first one did, but I feel obligated to read until the very last page.

We'll be at the beach this week and I hope to finish that book and start one of the many that are in my phone notes entitled "To Read" :)

Gosh, you guys have been busy!
Thanks for the book recommendations. I'm all about children that can be taken places and be well-behaved. Mark and I feel like we're in the minority with those expectations in our small town. It's good to know we're not alone.
I hope you can find some time to rest and relax!

I know the feeling!!! My summer has been SO jam packed--I'm loving all the excursions, but at the same time I want to slow down! I loved Saving CeeCee Honeycutt.

I've discovered a new author I think you might like--Anita Shreve! Her books are really gripping and all unique (I tend to get bored with authors after a while because all their books start to seem so similar, but so far hers haven't!)

Hello there! Glad you are back. So, I saw an article on Bringing up Bebe in a magazine and tore it out and stuck it to my fridge. I loved reading French Women Don't Get Fat, and I'm hoping this is the mother version of that. How do you like it so far?

I read Bringing Up Bebe this summer, and LOVED it!! I also have a 6 mth old baby girl, so I got some good ideas from it. Was a super fun read! I also love things French inspired.
