Summer Reading List

It is soooo hot here.  I'm reeeally looking forward to getting our power bill.  That should be fun.  Anyway, wanted to share with y'all my summer reads.  Please share what you've been reading!

1.  The Paris Wife by Paula McLain - Terribly depressing.  Has anyone read this?  What did you think?

2.  The Help by Kathryn Stockett - Can't wait to start this one!

3.  Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte - Am I the only person who hasn't read this?  I never read it in school, but I feel like it is a classic, so I should.

4.  The Valley of the Light by Terry Kay - I think Terry Kay can do no wrong!  Love everything he writes!

5.  The Lake of Dreams by Kim Edwards - This was on the "new" shelf at the library.

6.  Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling - I've read the first two.  I love HP, but I've decided not to check out any more HP books from the library.  Lets just say they were, um, "well used" - Live and Learn!

These are also a few on my list:

Heaven is for Real by Todd Burpo
Love, Lucy by Lucille Ball
Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell

In other news, I love this kitchen - Can't remember where I found this image (maybe off Tessa's blog @ Nine & Sixteen - she has the best inspiration photos!), but kudos to whoever designed this masterpiece.  Simply Perfection!

And in other, other news, you know you live in a small town when you stop at a railroad crossing and this is in front of you....

Happy Tuesday!
Stay cool!

I read The Help and it's a great story. It took me a bit to get into it, but I'm excited to see the movie once it's out. I hope you like it!

The Help is amazing and HP's are wonderful! I need to read Jane Eyre...seriously can't believe I escaped all of my schooling without that one! Thanks for the ideas for my next reads!

The Help is awesome.. did take a while to get into, but was very good!! You should read it soon so you can go see the movie when it comes out in a month!

yep, ditto on The Help.

And Harry Potter! yay! I read all the books after they were all already out and finished in like 2 weeks...what a dork. haha.

The Help is currently my 'next up' read. I'm reading Captain & Kings which seems to be taking me forever because I haven't had much time. After The Help I think I'm going to check out The Hunger Games to see what all the fuss is about.

That kitchen is PERFECTION! Seriously, having coffee there every morning would be amazing.

And yep, I know all about getting stuck behind tractors here in my village, but never at a stop light, because we're so tiny, we don't even have a stop light! No stop sign either! TINY!

I've heard only great things about 'The Help'. That's next on my list!

Also, I finished 'Heaven Is For Real' in one day! It's a sweet, uplifting story. Perfect summer read :)

I read The Help on our honeymoon and it's absolutely wonderful. You'll love it very much. Upon the recommendation of friends that we met on the h'moon, I'm now reading One Day. It's okay - certainly not as good as The Help in my opinion.

Oh, no! I loved THE PARIS WIFE! I can see the depressing...but I loved the fact that I felt such strong love/hate emotions throughout the book. And I was so attached to Hadley.

Thanks for sharing; I am finishing up my William and Kate bio which is easy, fun reading. I'm also counting down the days until the movie based on The Help comes out in August. I loved that book and hope you love it too!!

You will love "The Help"! And the movie is coming out mid-August which I'm SO excited for :)

I'm currently reading the HP series too! I'm in the middle of the 5th book. I was trying to finish before the last movie came out, but I don't think I'm going to make it :)

LOVED The Help and just started The Paris Wife. I'm now looking forward to seeing The Help movie. Another light read that is going to be out in the movies starring Anne Hathaway is One Day. If you want to read something not too deep that's a fun one.

Jane Eyre is wonderful! And when you're done, read Wide Sargasso Sea (it's from the perspective of someone else in Jane Eyre. I don't want to tell you who until you've read Jane Eyre or it'll ruin it!)
