Goin' to the Chapel...Part 1: Bridesmaid's Luncheon

Everybody loves a good wedding post, right?  Well, I'm going to share mine :)  I'm going to do this over several posts because our photographer took 1,300 pictures and I'd like not to bore yall to tears too soon!

So, here goes.

First off, where we got married and why.  We got married in my husband's hometown.  My church only holds around 100 people on a good day, so our guest list quickly outgrew our space.  Plus, T's church is beautiful and I wanted to get married in a church that was meaningful to both of us.

My parent's and I stayed in a beautiful private cottage that is right behind T's parent's home.  This place was super gorgeous and the decorating - well, let's just say, it like a dream.  It should be featured in a magazine!

I mean, how FABULOUS are these windows!  I die.

How beautiful is my mother, seriously?

So also, I must mention that we got married the after my birthday!  Really, I didn't have much choice on the date.  I took the bar exam the last week in July and UGA's first football game was the first weekend in September.  My parent's NEVER miss a UGA home game, so if I wanted them to be there, it really needed to be in August.    So, in order to maximize time, I chose the last weekend in August.  Yes, hot, sweaty, humid August - in South Georgia.  Crazy, I know.

All that being said, the rehearsal dinner and all other festivities were held on my birthday.  I woke up Friday morning and T told me to check outside - much to my surprise, there was a lovely lime green beach cruiser WITH BASKET AND BELL!  What a DREAM birthday present!  I LOVE it!

How cute are the pretty pink roses in the basket?

The bridesmaid's luncheon was so wonderful!  We had great food, weather, and location plus I was surrounded by my best friends in the world, so I couldn't ask for much more!

Can you tell we are related?  My mom, 1st cousin, me, Grandmother, Great-Aunt

My mother-in-law had a replica of the wedding cake made for the bridemaid's luncheon - it was so delicious!  I actually liked it better than our wedding cake!  I wish I hadn't been so nervous or I would have eaten a lot more!

My mother-in-law had put wedding pull charms into the cake.  Basically, you stick little silver charms into the cake attached by a string and each bridesmaid and bride pulls one out.  Each of the charms represents something different.  Well, I didn't know it but my MIL had put in the following charms: 2 wedding cake charms, 2 baby carriages, 2 engagement rings and 2 little houses (happy home).  Well, everyone (randomly) got a charm that sort of represented them.  My two friends who will probably be getting married next got the engagements rings, my two sister-in-laws got the baby carriages, - both have children, and I got one of the wedding cakes.

My dear friend, Laura, who is very happy being single was very relieved not to get the engagement ring or the baby carriage...

It was such a lovely day with my friends and family.  I plan to post about the rehearsal dinner next, and those will start my "professional" pictures - which are great and I'm so excited to share with yall!
